I've had the time of my life, literally.
On December 17 we picked up Jane and Sabino at the Nashville airport. I
was really glad they came. Jane always knows how to kick it. The moment
we got to Dad's house we were already having fun. She taught me this
light trick, where you can make letters or shapes using any light source
like a flashlight that an SLR is able to capture. Basically its painting
or drawing before the SLR shuts and records the image. I love it. She
has cool set of lenses and she taught me lots of things while she was
here. I now understand aperture and shutter speeds. I was able to play
around with my D80 and figured out this cool custom menu where I can
make colors stand outrageously. I'll post some up soon.
The next day I went to work. Boohoo. But I was about to have a huge
break after this one.
And then, it was all about hanging out with the guys. We bought lots of
beer, played beer pong, played pool, and played poker. We also had some
basement fun. I call these days the last days of Jilana's pregnancy. I
miss her belly. We expected Jilana to give birth before the 23rd but she
really didn't. So on December 23rd, she got induced. That will be one of
the best days I will remember. We woke up and arrived at the womens
hospital in centennial around 6:45 a.m. And she got admitted to Labor in
the fifth floor. Dr. Morehead came around 9 o'clock and popped her
water. She felt those contractions as if a train was running over her
stomach. So the nurse set her up for an epidural and from there she felt
so much better. And then baby was coming out fast. Jilana went from
being dilated 3 cm to 6 cm in like an hour. So I called the family to
come now. After that she got to and 8 in another 2 hours and she
stopped. That was where all the worry came. Dr. Morehead comes in and he
started suggesting a c-section because baby stopped at 8 cm. This wasn't
the plan at all and Jilana cried because we wanted to make sure baby was
ok. So Dr. Morehead left to give Jilana time to think about whether or
not shell do the c-section. The nurse then suggested some positions she
should be in that may help the baby to keep going. So we waited for at
least two hours. I was worried. I prayed to God that she will be in
labor fine. And my prayer was answered. Around 2:45 she started pushing.
Her mom, stepmom, Tiffany, and Jane were in the room. She pushed and
pushed and finally around 3:12 pm she was born. I don't know how to
describe how I felt when she was born. And for some reason I just teared
up. I really couldn't help but tear up.
Emily Jane was 7 pounds and 5 ounces when she came. She was 19 and 3/4
inches tall and she is so beautiful. I love her so much. I don't even
want to go to work because I just want to be beside her. And every night
when I sleep, I can't help but wake up every hour just to see if she is
ok. She is just as beautiful as her mom. I ask myself, how can people
just let their pregnancy go because the feeling I had when she gave
birth was so amazing and so indescribable. It was wonderful. Accidents
happen, but every accident always calls for something beautiful.
I love my daughter.
Christmas was a blast. We actually opened up presents on the 23rd
thinking Jilana and I will be staying in the hospital till Christmas.
This year's Christmas was really special.
Well, everyone is now back to their homes and I miss everyone. I wish I
could have a neighborhood that had my family and her family and my best
friends nearby. Everyone is all scattered. Louisiana, California,
Tennessee, and then possibly Seattle.
